Arts & Science workshop "on board" at the island of Batz

The workshop will take place from Friday 30th September to Sunday 2nd October 2022.

This three-day-workshop is open to all engineering, master and doctoral students of the ISblue community (universities, research organisations, engineering schools) around a common theme: deep-sea ecosystems.

It aims to raise students' awareness of the challenges of deep-sea exploitation while encouraging them to imagine innovative solutions to future scientific, legal and societal challenges.

One scientist, five artist and about twenty students will gather so that their research, their skills, their personal experiences cross each other, enlightened and intermingle on these issues in an unexpected way.

Writing, acting and sound recording/editing sessions will illustrate the results of these reflections and confront the ideas around a science & society topic.

New this year, a culinary workshop is proposed, for a gustative and creative exploration of the island's natural resources. These times of living together will fully participate in the spirit of the workshop.

The cost of the crossing, accommodation at the youth hostel on the island of Batz and all meals (except Sunday lunch) will be covered. A contribution of 60 euros will be requested from the selected students.

If you are aware of the interest of transdisciplinarity, if you want to communicate and be curious, this workshop is for you!

To apply, it's simple: fill in the form and write a letter in which we will find your deepest motivations.

The selection will be made at the end of the call, in mid-September, depending on the number of applicants. Bachelor's students may be accepted if the number of applicants is insufficient.
